Purpose of Position:
The Infrastructure Engineer reports to the Technical Lead, responsible for assisting in the maintenance and support of IT infrastructure, with a focus on patching, server management, server support, and vulnerability management within relevant environment.
Main Responsibilities:
Server Management and Support
- Assist in the day-to-day management of server infrastructure, including Windows and Linux systems
- Monitor server performance and respond to alerts
- Perform routine server maintenance tasks
- Provide first and second-line support for server-related issues
Patching and Updates
- Implement and maintain a regular patching schedule for servers and infrastructure components
- Test patches in a controlled environment before deployment
- Apply security updates and patches in a timely manner
- Document all patching activities and maintain patch logs
Vulnerability Management
- Assist in conducting regular vulnerability scans of the infrastructure
- Help identify and prioritise vulnerabilities based on severity and potential impact
- Support the implementation of remediation measures for identified vulnerabilities
- Maintain documentation of vulnerability management activities
Infrastructure Support
- Provide technical support for infrastructure-related issues
- Assist in troubleshooting network, storage, and server problems
- Participate in infrastructure maintenance activities
- Help maintain infrastructure documentation and procedures
Required Capabilities:
- Basic knowledge of server operating systems (Windows Server, Linux)
- Familiarity with patch management processes and tools.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Basic understanding of security principles and vulnerability management.
- Understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
- Ability to follow established procedures and documentation
- Strong attention to detail
- Good communication skills
Required Experience:
- 5 years’ experience in IT support or junior system administration roles
- Experience with server management and maintenance tasks
- Familiarity with patch management and system updates
- Basic understanding of vulnerability management concepts
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Willingness to pursue further certifications and continuous learning
- Relevant entry-level certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+) are a plus
