Job purpose:

A vacancy currently exists in the Finance Department for a Governance, Risk and Compliance Manager. The successful applicant will be reporting to the Finance Executive. To manage Corporate Governance, Compliance and Risk Management to safeguard the organization as well as to ensure alignment with organizational goals, policies and regulatory requirements.


Overview of Key Activities:

Governance:

  • Develop and implement Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) frameworks, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure that the internal processes comply with regulatory corporate governance standards (King IV, IFRS, SARS), drafting policies, adoption by the board and roll out into the business.
  • Implement new policies and procedures if and when required due to amendments to legislation to ensure compliance to regulatory bodies such as FICA.
  • Act as the liaison between departments for all GRC related matters.
  • Coordinate audits, investigations, and regulatory inquiries.
  • Identify opportunities for enhancing governance processes and recommend improvements to reduce risk exposure and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Perform an active role in business system improvements to align with business processes and ensure risk mitigation.
  • Bi-Annual reporting to the Social and Ethics Committee as required by the Company’s Act.

Risk:

  • Design and implement an Enterprise Risk Management System.
  • Manage the process of identifying and assessing risk affecting the organization.
  • Manage the company’s risk register
  • Collaborate with departments to implement risk mitigating strategies.
  • Oversee the plan of risk control actions.
  • Organize appropriate risk reporting.
  • Conduct training to enhance risk awareness and prevention.

Compliance:

  • Conduct regular compliance audits to identify and rectify non-compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and laws.
  • Monitor and track regulatory changes, ensuring that the organization remains compliant with all relevant laws, standards, and industry regulations and communicates the changes to the relevant stakeholders/teams.
  • Ensure that all contractual documentation comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the Compliance tracking tool within the company’s ERP system
  • Serve as the point of contact for all compliance related matters. Facilitating all compliance related matters such as investigations or requests from Governmental Departments such as Department of Labour.
  • Perform any other duties as deemed necessary and requested by the Manager.

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, Law, Internal Auditing or a related field.
  • A Minimum of 8 years proven experience in governance, risk management, or compliance roles, preferably in a manufacturing concern
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks, industry standards, and best practices related to governance, risk and compliance, i.e. FICA, POPI, SARS, ESG, etc.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to assess complex risks and provide practical solutions. Proficiency in risk assessment tools, compliance management systems, and data analytics software.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently. Adaptability and the capability to stay current with evolving regulations and industry trends.
